Help Support JP's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Greetings beloved family and friends!
It feels like we've been hit by a mack truck this summer, but as I write this there is a plan formulating in front of us, step by step. JP has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, specifically papillary urothelial carcinoma, high grade. He underwent two scope surgeries in Denver at UCHealth on July 13th and July 17th to remove large tumors in his bladder and was in the hospital for 6 days. He is back home and recovering well from surgery. We met with an oncologist in Durango this morning and were outlined on their recommended treatment plan, which involves a couple rounds of many weeks of chemotherapy split up by a surgery to remove his bladder. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer and JP's age, the surgeon and oncologist are recommending aggressive treatment in order to preserve the chance that he'll get to live out a long life. As JP grapples with and prepares for all this, he is beginning treatment with an integrated clinic as well. He is enrolling as a patient and will be there for 3 weeks during this period of time before chemo begins. We are also seeking second opinions on his case in the coming weeks.
Thank you for the love and support I've felt already. This situation has been quite a lot for me to take in as I navigate my desire to stand with JP, shoulder to shoulder, through his treatment, while also being the mom our children need on the homefront. They are the brightest lights, and the thought of them losing their dad is unfathomable to me at this point. This site is mainly to help me be organized to receive help and support, and have a place to share how JP is doing. JP has shown a calm, steady strength and ownership in healing from the moment we learned about the seriousness of what was going on.
As we face an unwanted landscape, it is comforting to feel your kindness, love, and positivity.
Thank you,
Lindsay
