Ricardo has a mental illness-help us release him!

Ricardo should NOT be living in a U.S. detention facility. He should be with family, where he can continue to fight for his freedom and receive the care he so desperately needs.
Despite a diagnosis of mental illness since childhood and a traumatic brain injury suffered from a bike accident, Ricardo Martinez has spent the last two years living at the Adelanto Detention Facility in CA.
Ricardo came to the U.S. from Mexico as a young teenager because his family could not access the medication and care that he needed. In the U.S., Ricardo has had access to a psychiatrist and medication for his mental illness. But since being detained in August 2016 Ricardo's illness has worsened. He is terrified of being deported back to a county where the mentally ill are habitually locked up in institutions and endure abysmal and dehumanizing conditions.
At a court hearing in 2016, Ricardo told the immigration judge that if he is deported "I know that I am not going to receive the medication that I’m receiving here in the United States. No one cares over there if you have a mental problem, the government or the people ... If you have a mental problem, all you receive is mistreatment, abuse.”
Ricardo recently had a bond hearing, where his bond was set for $5,000 - but his family has no way to pay for it.
