Ricards Runners Run Club

I will be running London Marathon as part of Team TCS Teachers.

Sport has been a defining part of my life. For the past 15 years, I have been fortunate enough to have worked with young people in sport, and for the last decade, I have been a teacher, currently at Ricards Lodge High School, an all-girls school where I see firsthand the power of sport in shaping young women’s lives.

Sport has given me opportunities I could never have imagined—it has taken me around the world, introduced me to incredible people, and taught me resilience, teamwork, and confidence. Running, in particular, is something close to my heart. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of freedom it gives you, the clarity it brings, and the sense of accomplishment when you push beyond your perceived limits.

However, too many girls drop out of sport as they grow older. Studies show that nationally by age 14, girls quit sports at twice the rate of boys, despite the undeniable benefits: improved mental and physical health, increased confidence, and higher academic achievement. 90% of female executives played sports growing up, proving that the skills learned on the field or track can carry through to future success.

At Ricards Lodge, our girls are incredibly passionate about sport, and we are especially proud of our running club. It’s more than just an extracurricular activity—it’s a space where girls build confidence, find their inner strength, and support each other. We want to keep this momentum going, and are asking for your support to do so.

With your support, we can:

‍♀️ Expand our running club and introduce more girls to the joy of running, while giving them to opportunity to train in proper facility such as the local track. This will also give us the opportunity to enter a wider range of races, funding entry and travel.

⚽ Develop diverse sports programs to ensure every girl finds an activity she loves

Invest in new equipment, coaching, and resources to create more opportunities for participation while continuing to beat the statistics of girls participation in sport.

Like a lot of public sector provisions, budgets can only go so far especially in our current climate. We truly want to be a leading school in fighting the statistics of girls participation rates in school. Please help us achieve this.
