Rice for poor families in Cambodia

My heartfelt thanks for everyone who donated. We raised over $800 to help very poor families in the rural areas of Cambodia. Together with other donations, we were able to provide 50 families the rice, cooking oil, fish sauce, etc., to sustain them for 1 month. In addition, we purchased children multivitamins as many of the younger children are being impacted by the lack of proper nutrition.

Hi, My name is Rod.

About 40 years ago I became part of a group of volunteers helping Cambodian refugees arriving to Long Beach, CA; it's estimated that about 2 million - half the population - died under Pol Pot in the late 1970s. I fell in love with the Cambodian people and their inner strength after enduring horrifying circumstances.

In 1984 I briefly worked in the Cambodia refugee camps in Thailand. However, I was not able to make it into Cambodia.

Now in Mar 2024 I have the opportunity to visit some of poor areas of Cambodia to help people in need. $35 will buy a 20 kg (45 lb) bag of rice -- enough to feed a family of four for a month. My goal is to raise $700 to feed 20 families.
