The Joyce Bonitz Broken Hip Recovery Fundraiser

Hi, my name is Rich Bonitz and I'm hoping to raise funds to defray the cost of my parent's emergency stay out of state.

I took my parents on a vacation in Florida and my 79-year-old mother tripped in the kitchen, fell, and broke her hip. Freak accident, but a LOT of pain.

Surgery appears to have gone well, but the hard part is now recovery. Mom is going to a skilled recovery facility and is non-weight bearing for the next 2 weeks. Once she can put some weight on her leg, she is quite likely doing initial recovery therapy for the following 3 to 4 weeks.

Insurance will cover most of the medical costs - BUT they won't cover my father staying here to be with her. He's renting a low-cost, long-stay home near the hospital and grocery store, but needs a rental car, as well.

I did the math and we're trying to keep the costs down, but anticipating a 6-week stay, I'm looking to raise around $10,000 for housing, car, and groceries. He knows that any funds raised are earmarked for just those expenses - nothing else. I will be coming back and forth to help them both, but none of these funds will be used by me - this is all to help make mom and dad as comfortable as possible during this time.
