Rich Cobb’s Family

Donation protected
On February 25, 2023, our beloved father Richard Cobb unexpectedly passed away. He was the father to three children; Jackie, Richard, and Arthur. He was the partner of our mother Angelica. As if the sudden loss of our father was not already tragic, we have been left without time to grieve. Our family is surrounded with uncertainty. With ongoing legal proceedings including the probate process of our father’s estate, we are left with so much unknown. Due to our father and mother never legally being married, we have been told we have no right to many of the things we have all worked hard for. We are no longer allowed to live at the house our dad had planned for us to share for many years. Our mother has been told she has no direct legal right to her car. As well, the family business that every single one of us had worked so hard to develop, and maintain even during the Covid-19 pandemic; will soon close it’s doors. Leaving our mother, and brother to now search for new employment. The latter of whom, is now entering his last year in college. While we are unsure of our future, all of us are making efforts to keep this family moving forward.

For those who met Rich, they all share a unanimous opinion. He was such a nice, joyful and hardworking man. He cared so much about all of us and absolutely loved Angie. He was a member of the Branford Yacht Club, and took a navigation class with his youngest son, Arthur. He was also not shy for volunteer work, as he was a great helping hand at a dinner event the club held last September. He was also largely appreciated as a big volunteer and member of the Yale Aviation Club. Rich wrote the newsletter and was a big contributor in a fundraiser held for the club this past year. Where most people know Rich, is most likely from our family business; Branford Cleaners. For few it was a place to get their dry cleaning, however for many it was a place to gab with our father. He was always around to share a joke, and talk to many of the amazing customers, whom he called friends. He was responsible for the loving atmosphere that made the cleaners so lively, and the happiest small business in town.

Times are very stressful for everyone in our family. There is no one and nothing that can fill the gap left behind by our beloved father. Whether it be my brother’s college graduation, my sister’s wedding, or even just the annual holidays where everyone was together, the next few years will be especially brutal to get through without our dad. We have all had no rest from the legal process, the impending move, the loss of transportation, or loss of our business and work. Our entire livelihood and meaning to get up in the morning has been interrupted and taken away. We would very much appreciate any and all help. All donations will go towards legal aid, housing, and transportation costs given the impending cease of our vehicle, by the probate court. As well as ongoing aid to help cover day-to-day costs until new employment is found for all of us involved at the cleaners.

Thank you for any help you can provide. Whether it be sharing this page, or a contribution, your generosity means the world to us in this difficult time. Our family will not back down, and we will not let the story of our beloved father be clouded by negativity, for how it has concluded. We hope the community too, will share their word for how great our dad was, and the impact he had to those who cared, and were cared for. Thank you!
