Rich Murphy's Journey to Healing

Hi, my name is Sarah McQuilkin and I'm a close friend to Rich Murphy. I first met him about 8 years ago through work and since then have become close to him and his family. He's welcomed me to his family events (both the happy and the sad). He was a light every time I went into the office. He is stubborn which has made him strong, but he's humbled, and shine's the light of Christ every time he speaks. He's seen me through some tough times and some amazing times. I truly love this man and the whole Murphy clan.

Rich unfortunately was diagnosed with MDS (cancer) which led to a stem cell transplant. About 8 months later, he contracted RSV, pneumonia, and rhino virus, which landed him in the ICU. For the past 6 weeks, he's been trying to fight it but has been in and out of the ICU. At this point, his doctors are encouraging him to move to a rehab facility. His family is in the process of finding the best place for Rich to continue rehab to get stronger and heal. Rich, more than anything, desires a life of love and productivity. He cannot wait to get back to being a husband, father, grandfather, and friend/colleague. This has already been a long journey and will likely be longer, but we believe, through Christ, Rich's life here on earth is not done. This man has given so much to me and many people, and he has much more to give.

Therefore, we appreciate anything you can give to him and his family. To just ease even a little stress and worry from their lives will go a long way. Anyone who reads this story, whether you decide to give or not here, we also ask for your prayers. We pray for Rich's health. We pray for Rich's wife, Lori, as she has been so strong as his primary caretaker but can be also very taxing. We pray for Rich's family as they help Rich and each other throughout this chapter of their lives. We pray for Rich's doctors and medical team and future rehab team to help Rich get back to the life he's been working so hard for. Thank you, all!
