To all Hudson Valley sports fans, multimedia fans, OLL alumni, University of Michigan fans and friends, we are sad to report that our friend Rich Thomaselli, avid sports commentator, and writer has suffered a minor heart attack and a cerebral condition resulting in multiple strokes that have left him blind, almost completely deaf, barely able to speak, and very weak on his right side. We need your prayers!!
Rich lives in Fort Myers, Florida, with his son Joe, while his youngest son, Daniel, is a| freshman at FAU. Rich has been an avid sports enthusiast for over 40 years and a fantastic writer in Hudson Valley. He has worked for multiple media organizations doing sports reporting for cable networks and radio, including WPDH 101.5. Currently, he writes for New York Yankee magazine and other publications local to Dutchess County and Fort Myers.
Rich's prognosis is currently unstable. He will be moving to a rehabilitative hospital as soon as arrangements can be made with the long-range plan to be put into an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale to be closer to his boys. Due to his current condition, Rich will no longer be able to work and support himself and his children. Despite these challenges, Rich's ability to comprehend is spot on. He is cognitively very aware, and we ask you all to come together and support our warrior, Rich Thomaselli.
Rich has always been a contributor to his boys. At this time, Rich's prognosis will require a stint in a rehabilitation facility followed by a permanent move to an assisted living facility. He will no longer be able to work due to his sight and hearing deficiencies. Although his oldest son Joe has graduated from Marist College, financial assistance is still required as he starts his work journey and Daniel continues his college education. This sudden and unexpected turn of events and prognosis is terrifying for him and the boys.
We are looking to have as many people as possible contribute to assist Rich and these young men in their future while applications for Medicaid/Medicare are processed. We know Rich loves his kids dearly - they are his whole world. Those who speak to Rich regularly know that he would do anything for them, and contributing to the future of his children and himself would take a tremendous burden off his shoulders. We hope that everyone will pull together and contribute to Rich and his children during this joyous time of year.
