Help Simba & Rich Find a Home
Donation protected
Hello, friends. My name is Rich Hoberman, and over the past year and a half, I have been living in Philadelphia with a friend. I am seeking assistance temporary financial assistance from friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends because my dog Simba and I will become homeless at the end of January, when my roommate relocates to a small apartment. Any monetary donations, employment and/or housing suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I am a veteran, a past business owner, computer network admin and hardware guru by trade. I was doing very well until a little over three years ago when my business crashed due to a diagnosis of hepatitis C, an infectious liver disease. I found out I had the disease after visiting my doctor to find out why I was constantly tired. After running tests, I found out that I had had the disease for more than 25 years and most likely contracted while in the US Coast Guard.
I lost all of my clients, my house, computer business and eventually my transportation because of the complication of having two liver transplants back to back. With no place to go, a former client invited me to relocate from Atlanta to live with him in Philadelphia until I got back on my feet. With Philadelphia being a tech corridor, we figured I would find a job in no time. Since then, I’ve been on more than 30 job interviews from IT to general laborer. I’ve have had no job offers. It’s been over a year now. I was doing very well at one time. Now, I basically lost everything.
My roommate will be soon downsizing to a smaller apartment in January, and Simba and I will again be back in the same position prior to moving to Philadelphia. I suffer from in-frequent seizures since my last transplant. I applied for disability but have been turned down twice. However, I do have an attorney working on my case.
I walk to my job interviews. And my dog and I have been able to eat because of weekly trips to food pantries and share the food with Simba. I have also managed to survive off $18 in food stamps I get every month.
I know times are tough for everyone right now. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Please share my story on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any social media if you would not mind.
Thank you all!
