Richard suffers from Meningioma & needs your help!

Hi, my name is Michael. I am the fundraiser for Richard Andrews Arthur, a 35-year old man in Accra, Ghana. Richard needs your help urgently!

Richard is a young man married to Sharon Arthur.

Together, they have two kids namely, Thaddeus and Tetty Arthur who are 3 and 1-year old respectively.

In 2020, Richard started experiencing severe headaches.

He consulted and sought help from an Optometrist in Accra who prescribed eyeglasses for him but, because of the pressure in the eyes, the constant headaches persisted.

On 27 October 2023, Richard was taken to Paradise Diagnostics Center, a Healthcare facility in Accra for his brain to be examined by means of a CT Scan.

Unfortunately, the result of the scan showed that Richard has developed a tumor in his brain, a condition known as MENINGIOMA, the size of which is 8.3 × 5.7 x5.4cm.

Meningioma is a tumor that forms in your meninges, which are the layers of tissue that cover your brain and spinal cord. Meningiomas grow on the surface of your brain and can exert pressure on your brain as they grow.

Sad to say, the left part of Richard’s body does not function properly and this is medically attributed to the tumor in his brain.

Currently, more than 90% of adults between the ages of 20 and 44 survive for five years or longer after being diagnosed with meningioma.

But meningiomas are treatable.

Richard and his family have tried to seek treatment from several hospitals in Ghana including the Ridge Hospital and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital but to no avail.

On November 22, 2023, Richard was referred to the CYTECARE hospitals in India, where he can undergo the surgery to remove the tumor successfully.

However, the estimated cost associated with this surgery alone is $20,000(GHC 240,000), an amount that Richard and his family cannot afford on their own.

As a close family friend of Richard and his wife, I have taken it upon myself to help to raise funds to enable Richard, a father of 2 minor children to undergo the surgery to remove the tumor from his brain.

Just imagine how grateful Richard’s little children would be to know that your thoughtfulness helped to save their father’s life! Words alone cannot describe their gratefulness.
