Actor Richard D. May’s Family Expenses

Donation protected
Richard Darnell May is a dear friend of mine. On the way to his first performance as a paid actor with the African-American Shakespeare Company, Richard was tragically struck on the sidewalk by a car running a red light at 1040am between Post and Hyde Street in San Francisco, CA.

After battling homelessness, Richard was given new meaning in life. He was finally realizing his dreams of becoming an actor. He was set to play Ben in Arthur Miller’s ‘Death of a Salesman’. Richard was an artist in every meaning of the word. Richard would come to auditions with his parts already memorized and off-book. He used theatre and poetry to tell his story and perspective. Two weeks ago when I was with Richard, he told me he hoped when his time eventually came, that down the line someone might talk about and learn from his life.

Richard's mother is currently living in Massachusetts's. His wife passed away a few years ago. He is from the South Bronx, New York. Please help Richard's family when they travel to San Francisco so we can pay for their flights and hotel expenses as they travel to San Francisco to help with Richard's funeral. All proceeds will go to assisting his family during this difficult time. Anything left over from flights, hotels and other expenses will be used to hold a memorial for Richard.

Below is the article about the accident:

Richard's funeral was on December 11th, 2023 at Duggan's Serra Mortuary in Daly City at 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, CA 94014.
The funds were used to purchase plane tickets, hotels and rental cars. The remaining funds were sent to the mother and niece of Richard's family to use as travel expenses.

The below website was created to honor Richard's memory as an artist and actor.
