Richard "Grubby" Kane

Hi, My name is Wayne Huff, and I was best friends with Richard "Grubby" Kane, for 40+ years. As most of you know by now, Grubby passed away unexpectedly at his residence, on Thursday, August 31, 2023. It appears he died peacefully in his sleep.

Due to the fact that Richard had no next of kin to claim his remains, I was able to claim him myself, and start the process of laying him to rest.

Unfortunately, therein lies the problem. I was under the impression that the county would cover his funeral expenses. However, because I claimed him, and ordered a cremation (thinking it was covered), I effectively absolved the county of that obligation. If I had let the county take him, they would've covered it, but they would not have been able to cremate him, since it is illegal to cremate an unclaimed body.

Therefore, in order to cover all expenses incurred (funeral home services, burial of his ashes, etc), it will take $3,000 to cover everything. That is why I am asking for donations, to cover funeral and burial expenses, since I can't possibly cover it myself. We want Richard to leave this world with the love and dignity that he deserves. Any amount you can spare, however small or large, would be a huge help to us.
