Richard T Mudd’s Funeral Expenses

****UPDATE**** : Richie passed away this morning on August 23rd, 2023. We are in an urgent state to find out what options we have regarding his funeral and burial.

Hi, I am Richard T Mudd’s granddaughter. On Thursday August 19th, 2023 we sent Richie home on hospice care after a long and gruesome decision not to further treatment. Richie has suffered 4 major strokes and was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2018. Recently, we noticed him falling over and decided to take him to the hospital Sunday August 13th. At this time, our grandpa was still smiling and interacting with us and playing Uno at the hospital. After several tests, we discovered he had a grade 4 glioblastoma. After several discussions with neurologists and radiologists, we determined that the best route of care for him was hospice. Richie was and always has been hardheaded. He hated hospitals and we wanted to respect his wishes and allow him to come home to spend what we were told the last 2-3 months of life with him. On the first day home, he was asking for Zaxby’s and walking around. He was as happy as ever. That night, Richie stopped walking. He complained of pain and could not get himself out of bed. We called nurses in and they told us that it could have been the transition from the hospital to home and that he might be confused for a little bit. Things after that took a turn. His ability to speak, eat, drink, and interact quickly went away all within the span of 48 hours. He is now in a fight for his life as his body temperature increases, his blood pressure lowers, and his seizures become more frequent. Anyone who knew Richie would know that he was a great man. He spent his time fishing, working on cars and projects in his garage, going to auctions and the flea market, and driving his four wheeler. He was a down to Earth man and would give the shirt off his back for anyone. This news to us was quick and all happened in the span of a week. We never thought we would be saying goodbye to our Pa in the next few hours or days. After his stroke in 2018, our grandpa has been unemployed and on disability. Unfortunately, he does not have life insurance and after calling several funeral homes there are not options for payment plans. We want to give Richie his wishes and have him buried and we are praying that we can find the funds and resources to make that possible. We appreciate any and all donations and shares that anyone is able to make. Even a little bit will help us go along way in making sure that Pa gets honored in the best way ♥️
