On December 18th, 2017, we lost our beloved Richard.
Richard was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, and grandfather who leaves behind his wife of 25 years – Erin; three children – Miles, Devin, and Trevor; and five adorable grandchildren – Emma, Gracie, Josie, Lucy, and Wyatt. Richard also leaves behind all of you – his many friends and colleagues who fueled his love and passion for music and life. He touched, and was touched by, so many. The outpouring of love, respect, and appreciation you have shown is overwhelming. On behalf of Richard’s entire family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
In October 2017, Richard was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The news was so very hard but, in typical Richard fashion, he took it as another one of life’s challenges and began his fight for time. He so looked forward to spending his remaining days on earth with his family and friends and with his Trickfish colleagues and artists. Trickfish was indeed Richard’s second family. Sadly, Richard contracted an infection that ultimately took his life. He spent his last month in a hospital bed fighting each day for more time with all of us. He fought an unbelievably hard fight but, in the end, God chose to take him from us. We can only imagine how the thunder from his bass (and Trickfish Rig) sounds up in Heaven.
On behalf of his family, we have established The Richard W. Ruse Jr. Memorial Fund on GoFundMe. Monies raised will be used to help pay for his medical bills and to ease the financial burdens that have befallen his family as a result of his sudden departure. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
RIP, my Brother. We love you and thank you for all that you have done to make this world a better place. You are so dearly missed.
