Rich Buckler Memorial Scholarship

Our friend Rich Buckler was a respected, reliable storyteller who created Deathlok and was a mainstay on the Fantastic Four. He put in solid years at Marvel and DC but, like so many artists, struggled to make a living when the winds shifted at the Big Two. Life is short and art is long. Rich's dedication to his art was primary.
More than once, I stepped in to help Rich, negotiating a new contract for him with Marvel after his Deathlok lawsuit brought him a pitance and effectively ended his relationship with the company. I brought him freelance and commission work where I could and, most recently, published his final art portfolio. Rich was a difficult guy. He'd have been the first to admit that. But his committment to his craft never faltered, even as he struggled with his health and the cancer at the end.
This fund raiser is an opportunity to create a scholarship in Rich's name at the Joe Kubert School of Comic Art. Your contribution of ANY amount is appreciated. Don't be shy about dropping a $1 in the hat--you can even do it anonymously. It adds up... $35 or more will get you a copy of Rich's art portfolio; $100 or more will get you the art portfolio with a piece of original art from Rich, while supplies last.
These last few years were really rough for Rich. Looking back, I wish I'd done more to help. Now I can only do this.
Rest in peace, Rich Buckler. You made great comics and had an army of fans.
