Richie & Ariel's Accident Recovery Fund

Donation protected
Around 7:00 in the evening this past July, my brother Richie and his wife Ariel were on their motorcycle on their way to dinner when a truck T-boned them.

Ariel was taken by ambulance to a local hospital near their home in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She had a fractured wrist and tore the PCL in her knee. Richie was air lifted to Janesville WI, but when they saw the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted again to Rockford, IL and spent several days in the ICU, after that he was in a rehabilitation hospital for close to 2 weeks.

In the short time since the accident, Richie has undergone 5 surgeries to repair and reconstruct the damage to the left side of his body. His leg fractured in many places, his hip was fractured, and his hip socket broke in four pieces. He also sustained burns when the motorcycle landed on him and needed a skin graft. He is still dealing with pain, working through rehab and in home care visits and for the first time since the accident, he was able to take a shower this week using the help of a walker and shower chair.
Since the night of the accident, Ariel has been living with my mom and stepdad and once Richie was released from the hospital, he was also moved there. They were unable to stay in their apartment and both needed help with care and recovery.

Just last week, Ariel has been able to start working again part time, but Richie will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. Due to the laws in Wisconsin, he is unable to apply for unemployment since he is in the process of filing for disability which looks like it will take close to a year to be approved. They both have been without any income now for 2 months.

One thing is sure, they need the help of friends of family right now. They cannot get through this without our help. Many friends and family have supported them in different ways since the accident and they are truly grateful for that. I know that they have felt your love, prayers, and support.

Meeting this donation goal means that they would be able to move into a first-floor apartment with a walk-in shower which is crucial for Richie right now as he works towards being able to walk and take care of himself.

It would mean that the burden and stress of physical recovery, medical bills, lost income and sorting through all the insurance paperwork would be somewhat alleviated by having a place to live and the majority of their living expenses covered for the next year.

We are praying for God's help in all of this, especially in Richie's recovery because without His intervention, Richie will be dealing with the impact of this accident for many years to come.

Please help support Ariel and Richie as they start to put their lives back together in whatever way you can. Since this fundraiser is specifically for their living expenses for the next year, a monthly donation is a great option as well.

Whether you can help out right now or not, please consider sharing this fundraiser with everyone you know. And please pray and believe with us for best possible outcome during their healing and recovery.

Thank you!!!
