Rich's Big Ride Project: Support Ukraine
Tax deductible
My name is Rich Canevez, and I'm a professor and cyclist from Houghton MI.
I am fundraising for Razom for Ukraine by riding solo on my gravel bike from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Chicago, traveling through my politically divided slice of the American Midwest.
This is also an exciting part of my first book project, where I will gather stories to share myself, us, and our battle in the current political moment.
With your support, we can help Razom for Ukraine, and Ukraine more broadly, support their rights to justice in the international world. Ukraine continues its struggle for sovereignty, for democracy, and their rights to self-direction and autonomy, all threatened by the full-scale russian invasion that began in 2022. While US governmental leaders supported Ukraine's rights in the struggle against russia's invasion and attempted occupation, the change in leadership may herald the need for everyday citizens to do what they can to support Ukraine.
Razom for Ukraine works through a range of projects to promote the growth of democracy and prosperity in Ukraine. Razom has been active throughout the full-scale invasion, with projects that promote those critical aspects of life straining under the weight of war like healthcare, children's well-being, humanitarian relief, and advocating internationally. I am riding to help provide a voice for their cause, and your support can make all the difference.
I have the privilege of working at an institution of higher learning, where I get to teach students about the challenges to progress in our society, whether it is racial justice, climate action, or threats to democracy worldwide. I have seen now that the threats are closer to home, and that those of us who believe in a better world need to put our money where our mouth is. For me, teaching and researching the struggle is no longer enough!
All funds raised through this GoFundMe section of the project will go directly to Razom to assist with their programs, to enable the continuance and growth of their growth and mission.
