Rick and Billie Broome Fundraiser
Donation protected
I don't usually ask for help but this is for a good cause and one I hope you'll consider donating to. Rick Broome, a respected aviation artist, and Billie his wife have fallen on very hard times and I'd really like to help them if I can.
I have known Rick and Billie for over 20 years. I met them back in 1992 when I was just a new cadet at the Air Force Academy and my family bought our first piece of Rick's fantastic aviation artwork which we still proudly display today. Since then I have bought many of Rick's unique and personalized art pieces and love them all.
It takes a special breed to open home and heart to strangers and treat them like family. Rick and Billie were like a second family to me while I was at the Academy, always giving me a place to stay when I needed it, and taking me in like one of their own. I spent many late night hours with Rick in his studio, watching him paint, talking about life, and sharing our love for aviation. These are memories I will cherish forever.
They have taken in countless cadets over many years before and after me, graciously providing a sanctuary from the challenging Academy life and allowing us cadets a place to unwind. They often hosted socials where Academy cadets past and present, friends, and family could all come mingle and spend time together, and they never expected anything in return.
Rick took a terrible fall in 2017, and another just recently that has severely impaired his ability to produce art the way he used to. Billie has had her share of health problems as well, with lingering problems after recovering from a stroke a number of years back. Without the ability to paint like he used to, the decline of their aviation art sales and accumulated financial losses from their kindness being taken advantage of over the years, combined with the health problems they are having, it has created such a terrible financial strain that they are on the verge of losing their beloved Colorado Springs home they have hosted so many of us in.
These are not the kind of people to ask for help, so I am doing it for them. If Rick and Billie took you in as a cadet or you've ever been a part of their hospitality, you know of them through their art, or just feel a strong sense to help where help is desperately needed, please consider donating now to help them. Or even consider buying one of Rick's art pieces at http://rickbroomeonlinestore.com .
The funds generated will solely be used to help Rick and Billie get their mortgage caught up, help pay for medical bills, and help them get back on their feet.
None of us ever wants to face the prospect of losing our incomes, our homes, and our health. Let's help get these two wonderful souls back on their feet. Every bit helps!
I am grateful for your help.
My very best,
Tony Wilko
