Rick Mulet: His Life’s Journey Can’t Stop Here...

My name is Rick and here’s a quick story about me.... while living in Atlanta, I was passing through south Florida on business. I never thought that by stopping off for dinner, that I would meet my future soulmate that I finally found after 55 years. I took a chance, quit my job and moved to Florida to be with Conni and her daughter and allowed me to be closer to my son and daughter. I didn’t think it could get any better, but then I had the opportunity to join Pool Troopers and becoming an Operating Partner for the southeast territory of Florida, the best job of my career. I had planned on working with the team until I retired. My now wife and I have had an incredible love story and a beautiful journey through life so far. Throughout our journey together, we have shared our love for life with our family and friends. Whether it’s fishing, boat rides out to a sandbar, going camping or even throwing backyard BBQ’s and swimming (pre-COVID, of course), we just love to enjoy life with everyone. Then a major roadblock hit us hard, A week before Thanksgiving I was diagnosed with Adenoma Carcinoma cancer on my cerebellum and left lung. We were very fortunate to have a friend with a family member that works at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. They were able to expedite my admission. This is one of the best places that offers an aggressive, state of the art, treatment program. I have already began radiation treatments in Tampa. We have been traveling to Tampa for testing and now are staying in Tampa for my two weeks of radiation treatments. After the radiation is complete, I will then begin my chemo treatments. Luckily, I have a very good medical plan, however, the travel, hotels, tests, medicine, and the medical bills, they are already starting to add up and I am not able to work currently for a minimum of two to three months because of the radiation treatments. Once I start chemo, the time off may be extended. Without my income, it will be a struggle to keep up with everything. I am asking for a helping hand, this has been a huge shock for all of us and is quite stressful and expensive. My family and I are hopeful that I will get through this and be able to live a quality life again with my family and friends. Once I am well, we are planning on paying it forward.
