Dear friends,
Rick Sand is my brother-in-law, husband to my sister Kris, and father to 5 beautiful kids, Bridgette, Wyatt, Holdyn, Chyanne, and Skyler. Rick has been doctoring and treating cancer for the last six months with heavy radiation and intensive chemotherapy treatments. His last round of tests did not reveal what we had all prayed to hear. Instead, the doctors discoverd a tumor on his spine. He also has spots on his lungs and ribs, and lymph nodes are involved. Rick has a PET scan scheduled for Monday the 20th and may have a biopsy of his lymph nodes. Following his additional tests, he will be making decisions about his next course of treatment.
Since he has begun treatment, he has not been able to work. His wife, Kris, who has been his caretaker, has cut back hours as well. Money generated here would be used in his treatement and care. Your generosity would help to keep Rick comfortable, allow him to continue treatment should he see fit, and also allow his family to spend time with him.
We are also looking to put together a live benefit in March. We will know more about the practicality of this as Rick learns more about the progression of his illness and his treatment options.
We welcome prayers for Rick's stamina and his comfort. Also for compassion and strength for his caregivers.
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
