Rick Wilson, Victim of Beckwourth Complex Fire
Hi my name is Debbie Kincaid. I am a cousin of Rick Wilson, who is also known to many kids, and former students, who are now grown up's, as "Mr. Wilson". On Saturday evening, July 10, 2021, Rick lost his home in Doyle California, and all of it's contents, to the Beckwourth Complex Fire. Also called the Sugar fire. He is safe physically, but has lost everything else. He was able to grab a few items of clothing, and a few antique hand tools and escaped in his car. Everything else burned, including his race car hauler, which acted as a tool shed for his numerous tools that he used for repairing vehicles and homes. Rick was unable to obtain any sort of structure or personal belongings insurance because there is no hydrant system in Doyle, and they have only a completely volunteer Fire Department. Insurance companies would not offer any coverage at all. This was also the case for his immediate neighbors.
Rick spent the majority of his adult life in Southern California where he taught for many years, in both public and private schools. Rick positively affected the lives of countless kids in the San Gabriel Valley when he taught at Huntington Middle School in San Marino, Bethany Christian School in Sierra Madre, schools in La Canada, and other schools that I cannot recall the names of.
He also served in leadership positions for youth in several Churches. He and his Mother took in numerous foster children, and many are still in touch with him. I know that Rick has been a positive factor in many adult lives wherever he went in the San Gabriel Valley as well. He was also very active in the racing community, and still has friends in that community, and is active there when he has been able.
Due to his Mother's failing health, In 2005 he moved with his Mother up to Janesville, California, and started the last 12 years of his teaching career in the Lassen and Plumas County School systems. Since moving to Lassen County, in addition to his regular teaching duties, he has also provided leadership for AWANA's, Janesville Bible Camp, and has served in several Church outreach ministries, as well as serving in the Food Shelf Distribution Center in Doyle. During his years in Lassen County he has performed thousands of hours of outreach on a personal level to both children and adults who needed help of various sorts. He utilizes his own financial resources to accomplish this help. I set up a fund raiser on Face Book, but was asked to set up a go fund me account for those who do not have Face Book access. So that is the reason that you might hear or see that there are two separate fund raisers for Rick. So I am reaching out at this time on behalf of Rick, because we all know he would not do it for himself, and asking that we band together and shower him with some really big blessings, as he has blessed us all and so many others in the past.
