Rickey Savage Chemo Fundraiser
Donation protected
We recently discovered that Rickey Savage's cancer has returned. He has fought prostate cancer and won for the past 10 years. Now, it has returned and has also metastasized to several other locations in his body. Since he had radiation before, his Dr., Mollie deShazo, says radiation is not an option this time. It has spread so much that she felt chemotherapy infusions would be our best plan of action.
The insurance Rickey has will only pay 80%, leaving us to pay the other 20%. Our 20% is $3,200.00, per treatment.
We were able to get a one-time grant for most of the $3200.00 copay for this first round of infusion. We only had to pay $400.00 of the original $3200 copay to get the 1st infusion.
The rest of the chemo treatments we will have to pay the 3200.00. The plan was 6 to 8 treatments, 1 done every 3 weeks. We told them we couldn't come up with that. They've told us we can do a treatment every 4 weeks instead of every three.
If we miss a dose they will cancel the remaining treatments.
We are going to also need a chemo port implanted in him so he only needs to be stuck once to give blood and receive his chemo infusions. He has tiny veins that move/roll often and usually has to be stuck several times before a good vein can be accessed.
The port will be in the same spot every time, just under the skin below his shoulder and is easily accessed. It can be used for 8 to 10 infusions before being replaced.
We need help to raise enough money for the remaining treatments. Rickey must have these treatments if we hope to slow down or, (praying!), destroy the cancer cells.
Please help if you're able, and share with others who know Rickey, or those who found a solace through music under his direction as a Band Director and musician.
We Love and Thank each of you for your thoughts, kind words and prayers!
Sincerely,
Rickey & Kathy Savage
