Ricky Castro’s medical expenses

Donation protected
Friends-Family and All of you amazing people that have asked how you can help-

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at around 10pm Ricardo (Ricky) Castro was hit by a car in the Inwood section of Manhattan, while crossing the street after watching a basketball game in Dyckman with some friends. The driver fled the scene (no charges have been filed- NYPD has said there's nothing they could do since there are no working cameras in the area) Ricky was rushed to Harlem Hospital with severe swelling and bleeding in the brain. He's been been in a coma since the impact. Doctor's have said he suffered a severe TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury). As a result, he was intubated and has depended on a ventilator to breathe. As of today, he is still unresponsive but making small wins day in and day out. He's had a tracheotomy and has had success in taking breaths on his own. The hope is that soon he'll be weaned of the ventilator completely. Family, friends and prayer warriors around the world quickly started prayer chains and came together in a beautiful way to give spiritual support to the family during this horrible ordeal. As time has progressed, the process has been extremely difficult for the family and the timing is in the Lord’s hands. In this regard we have started this fundraiser to assist the family with Ricky’s medical/rehab expenses for the road ahead. The hospital has advised the family to consider long term care facilities that are mainly equipped to manage his ventilator state and "keep him comfortable." This is not acceptable - Ricky is only 28 years old and needs a TBI specific facility that can provide adaptive support and stimulation to help him wake up from this coma and prevent further complications. Ricky is strong and young and deserves the best care possible to win this battle; but in order to do so, financial support is needed. In addition we ask that you please stand in one accord with us and PRAY- Continue to keep Ricky in your prayers for a full recovery in the name Jesus!
