Ride for Hope: Honoring Janice and LadyBug
Donation protected
In 1989, my mother, Janice Lee Pittman, died at the age of 39 from breast cancer that later metastasized to her bones and brain. She left behind myself, 20, and my 3 sisters, 21, 18, and 13.
Last week, after a fierce battle, my husband lost his 42-year-old niece, LadyBug, to a very similar fight. LadyBug has 3 young sons that will grow up without a mother. They have an awesome village in their corner, but they will face issues that many of us as adults may never understand.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is the perfect time to honor my mom and LadyBug. My husband Anthony and I, along with our families, will lead a motorcycle ride from Christiansburg, VA; stopping in Beckley, WV, where my mother rests, and continue on to Georgetown, KY, where LadyBug is at rest. We are collecting pledges and ALL donations will go to LadyBug’s sons, a designated cancer center, and designated cancer research. Any support is appreciated!!
