Four-Up / Coast to Coast

As a child, Taylor Stroop kept his Cystic Fibrosis (CF) diagnosis to himself out of fear of being judged, pitied, or told he couldn’t do something. He never wanted to let CF define what he did or who he was going to be. Fast forward to 2018 and he’s gearing up for a coast-to-coast motorcycle ride, 6000+ miles along the dirt roads of the Trans-America Trail (TAT) with his wife, Kelsey Sue, and their two dogs, Dottie and Rusty, proudly documenting their journey on their Youtube channel to help spread awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Reseach.
The ride, Four-up Coast-to-Coast, will begin on Friday, Aug. 27 in Monterey, California, joining the Trans-American Trail in Port Orford, Oregon and end in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. The entire trip should take approximately four to six weeks.
According to Sam Correro , who originally charted the trail, “The Trans America Trail is the cross-country ride of a lifetime, with over 6,000 miles of mostly off-pavement travel. From scenic vistas and unique attractions to rough terrain and challenging conditions, the TAT presents every rider with the opportunity for an unforgettable journey and memories that will last a lifetime. Depending on the weather and location, riders may face challenges including mud, sand, snow, and rocks among others.”
“By taking this journey we hope to dispel the perceived limitations that are put on those who live with CF,” said Stroop. “We want to help people break those predetermined statistics that doctors, medicine, and society have set upon them by bringing together a community of fighters and dreamers.”
Multiple medications, daily breathing treatments, concerns over life expectancy, growth rate, fertility issues and restrictions on what a patient can and cannot participate in over fears of infection are just some of the limits that those living with CF must navigate.
CF is a progressive, genetic disease that primarily affects the respiratory and digestive systems, causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. Approximately 30,000 people in the United States and more than 70,000 worldwide have been diagnosed with CF. For more information, please visit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at www.cff.org .
The number one goal of this cross-country trip is to raise awareness and donations for CF research. Individuals, businesses, and organizations are invited to make a donation here to support this goal. One hundred percent of the money raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of research for a cure and drug development.
For those who wish to support/sponsor the Stroops personally on their Four-Up Coast-to-Coast trip can make a donation at www.gofundme.com/fourupsponsorship .
