James Rides for Grandview

Donation protected
Meet James... he's a pretty cool kid.

James is trying to raise $1500 in order to support Grandview Children's Centre by riding his bike from our home in Whitby to the Giver Playground in Mooney's Bay, Ottawa. He'd like your support.

James is a great guy, but on meeting him you might notice a few things that make him seem a little... quirky. He doesn't have many friends. He doesn't always act like other kids, and he sometimes seems detached from the world.

James is different because he is growing up on the Autism spectrum, and doing the best he can with the traits that brings. he struggles to connect ideas, can't make sense of social interactions, and doesn't see past the immediate. For james life is a puzzle whose pieces don't fit together.

For the past 2 years, James has been on waitlist to get services from Grandview Children's Centre in Durham Region. Unfortunately, Grandview is struggling with a funding crisis and currently has about 2700 other kids waiting for service. They cannot hope to meet the needs of every kid on their list. Fortunately for us, James' file is progessing soon. Many other kids are still waiting though.

As a Canada 150 project, James though it would be fun to bike to Ottawa, and then come home to give Grandview a donation of $10 for every year of confederation. On August 26th, we ride out of Whitby and follow the Waterfront Trail, Catarqui Trail, and Trans-Canada Trail to Mooney's Bay, Ottawa.

Please support James by:
* Donating to this effort and helping him reach his fundraising goal.
* Like, follow and comment on  #RideJamesRide on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
* Make puzzle piece signs with encouraging words and the hashtag to post along the route. If you have property along our route and could offer space for a tent in your yard, please let us know on your sign!
* Be there when we arrive at Mooney's bay - come out and play!!

Once on the trail, all our updates will be via text messages through Mom (Don't worry, she will update FB, twitter and Insta) and we won't know how many donations James has received until we return - It will be a great surprise for him. We will then write a cheque to donate to Grandview from James. I can't wait to see how excited James is to give that gift! We will share the moment with everyone, somehow!
