Ridge Hardware Legal Fund against SMC Health Dept

Ridge Hardware, a small True Value hardware store in southern Maryland, was closed on December 12th, 2020 based on false reports of Covid-19 inspections made by the St. Mary's County Health Department .  Since August 2020, we have tried to get an answer from the SMCHD on how to handle 2 of our employees who have claimed a medical exemption from wearing a mask.  We never got that answer until after they closed us.  That answer was for those 2 employees to wear a face shield, which doesn't work.  After 6 days of being closed, Ridge Hardware reopened to the public without the approval of Dr. Brewster from the St. Mary's County Health Department and has been open since.  In January 2021, Dr. Brewster filed a temporary restraining order against Ridge Hardware.  This matter has now gone to the court system.  

Ridge Hardware is following the Maryland Governor's executive order and has implemented practices to keep all employees and customers safe.  The dispute concerns the 2 employees with the medical exemption from wearing a mask.  As of February 11th, 2021, no Covid-19 cases have been traced back to Ridge Hardware.  The purpose of this gofundme is to help defray any legal expenses incurred as a result of this case and to help pay the 5 employees in the event of future closures of Ridge Hardware by any government entity because of the current pandemic.

It is up to we the people to fight back against these heavy-handed bureaucrats!
