My name is Pat Downey. I am a teacher, a disabled American veteran (Marines) and a proud Irish-American. I was deported from the Republic of Ireland on St. Patrick's Day, 2011, having been denied political asylum in Ireland and a path toward citizenship, in part for exposing US and Georgian governmental corruption. Sadly, my story is being withheld from the Irish people by the Irish mainstream media - as it was withheld from the American public.
I was recently denied political asylum in the United Kingdom, and was just recently living homeless in Northern Ireland. My wife, who is a Russian citizen, was denied US and Ireland visas last year. Unable to return to either the US or Russia, my wife, our nine year-old daughter and our seven year-old son longed to build a new life for ourselves in Northern Ireland.
I humbly seek to raise €1,500 in order to facilitate my return to Montenegro (where my wife and children currently live due to US and Irish government malfeasance), and to acquire residency there - having yet again been denied a life in Ireland.
Sadly, tens of millions of descendants of the Irish Famine are not welcome in Ireland by the Irish government. Your donations would be greatly appreciated. The abuse which I received by the Irish government was first reported by Russian media in October 2012:
