Riley’s Premature Arrival
Donation protected
Riley McGraw Milez decided to live up to his Seattle-inspired middle name (the street of the home where Ray and Erin met) by being born in Seattle! While he chose a great place to be born, it has come with a lot of unexpected expenses to turn our one week vacation into a six week one.
Riley was born June 27 at 3:14pm, 4lb 10oz, right at the 34 weeks gestation mark. The pregnancy was as boring as you could hope it to be until Erin’s water spontaneously broke one week earlier at 33 weeks. It took a few days to confirm it was amniotic fluid leaking, and a few more days in the hospital monitoring to make it to 34 weeks.
Riley will spend a few weeks in the NICU. He spent the first few days getting some help breathing, antibiotics for potential infection, and having a feeding tube placed. We are starting to work on breastfeeding and will spend the majority of time working on building his skills to feed independently.
We sincerely appreciate any donation to help offset the costs of our housing rentals and food (we all know Seattle is not so cheap).
We are deeply thankful to Erin’s mom who came from Chicago to babysit Emmett (freshly 2 years old on 6/23!) every day when we are at the NICU with Riley.
