My name is Rupa. I am a carer and have an 18-month old baby. I am fundraising for myself and my family after our home and car were damaged in the riots.
We are originally from Bangladesh but have happily lived in Teesside town for three years. But Sunday, August 4th, has been a curse on my life.
Around 4 pm masked gangs rampaged through the street for hours. Suddenly they smashed my house window and broke my car as well. I was speechless, and my baby started crying because of the sound of the breaking window. My family fled upstairs where we hid in the middle room.
I felt helpless. When the gangs were gone we came out slowly and found our car was broken and our house damaged. Now we have been told my car is not covered for this sort of damage because it was third party insurance. We are mentally and financially exhausted. I feel terrified to stay here with my baby. I need to buy a car for my work. and I am planning to move to a safer home for the sake of my baby, family and myself. Please help us rebuild our lives.
