Rioux twins born at 29 weeks medical fund

On Friday, November 20, Mickey and Ryen welcomed beautiful boy-girl twins, Amelia and Eirik to the world, at just 29 weeks gestation, via emergency c-section.
That morning, Mickey had her scheduled ultrasound and OB appointment with her OB. While they were listening to the babies heartbeats, baby Amelia's heart rate dropped multiple times so they sent mom to be monitored in the Labor and Delivery unit of the hospital. While there, Amelia's heart rate dropped a few more times, then stopped completely. Mickey was rushed in for an emergency c-section. The babies were born weighing 3lbs 1oz and 3lbs 3oz. Amelia was born not breathing and with no pulse, but was able to be resuscitated. Both babies were intubated, and sent to Duluth to the NICU, Amelia by helicopter, and Eirik was about 40 minutes behind her by ambulance.
Since mom had just had an emergency c-section, she had to stay overnight at the hospital in Grand Rapids and pushed to be discharged first thing Saturday morning so she and Ryen could go be with the babies. After getting to the hospital, Mickey posted this update.
"These babies are fighters! When we got there, Amelia was getting prepped for a brain scan. She has no brain activity and seems to be having constant seizures. They have her heavily sedated to try and reduce them. We are staying hopeful, but basically told to expect the worst.
Eirik on the other hand is doing great! He was taken off the ventilator today and has been breathing on his own. He has been tolerating 3ml feedings. While we were with him, he was wiggling, whining and trying so hard to open his eyes to see his daddy. We will hopefully get to hold him tomorrow."
Today, (Sunday) Amelia will have an MRI on her brain to see if there is any brain activity or any changes. Regardless of the results, it's going to be a long difficult road for the babies, and their amazing mom and dad. Mickey and Ryen also have 3 other children at home, Warren, Bella, and Otto. Between medical expenses, the cost of food, gas, and hotels for traveling between Grand Rapids and Duluth, and normal bills, this family really needs the help and support from their community to get through this challenging time. Please share this link, and donate if you are able. I'll be posting updates on mom and babies as soon as I know more!
