RIP Jill Gurr: Final Expenses

Donation protected
Febuary 12, 1950 - January 13, 2022

A love for travel, fluent command of 4 languages, a love of film and art drew Jill Gurr to work in the film industry. In her 20's she became a script supervisor. Years of working a job she loved allowed her to travel the world, see beautiful and exotic places, meet exciting, influential people, and rub elbows with major celebrities on set while contributing to the production of several major motion pictures. A partial list of her credits include, Mi Familia, Don't Be a Menace, Highlander II, Conan the Barbarian, even Gabriel Inglesias' Fluffy. Jill was good at her job, and she enjoyed it, yet she was left feeling unfulfilled. On the set of Mi Familia, she would meet two young boys who would profoundly affect her life. Although brief, this chance meeting would inspire her to volunteer at a youth detention facility and later lead to her founding [her "love child"] Create Now, a nonprofit geared towards mentoring at-risk youth. (Hear this story told in her own words).

Jill Gurr changed the lives of countless children by giving them a positive outlet to express themself, positive reinforcement and hope. She dedicated her life to helping the children the rest of society forgot about. Largely working behind the scenes, Jill never sought -and rarely received- any thanks. Witnessing the change in the lives of those she touched was all she ever wanted or needed. Though she is no longer with us, she continues her work through Create Now.

Unfortunately, a happy fulfilled life does not equate to a wealthy one. For this reason, the cost of laying her to rest has fallen to me, Michele Gurr, her only sister and closest living relative. The cost of removing her body from her apartment ($750) and taking her to Forrest Lawn. keeping her remains refirdgerated there adds another daily fee. Her will indicates a desire to be cremated ($4,500.) [It is my hope to be able to provide (upon request: contact me through her Facebook/FB messenger or on her cell or home phone) a small amount of ashes in a tasteful vial that may be kept or spread by the recipient as desired.] Some of Jill's friends and family -including her beloved nephew- would like to have an autopsy done ($3,200). Additionally, there are burial fees, monument/headstone, cleaning & emptying the apartment she lived in for 30 years, etc. Finally - if at all possible- allowing my sister to have the beautiful memorial service she deserves.

So with a heavy heart, I am required to reach out to those who held her dear and those whose lives she has touched and beg your help to give Jill- a woman to gave so much- the final rest she wanted and earned, allowing her soul to be at rest as soon as possible.

Thank you all for your generosity and, most importantly, your love for Jill.
