With deep sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved brother Journalist-Professor Aaron Berhane on May 1st, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) due to a sudden illness. Please join us in mourning the death of our beloved brother Journalist-Professor Aaron Berhane.
Award-winning journalist, publisher, lecturer, writer, activist, life-long human rights advocate, Aaron was a brother, a son, a husband and father to his three children. He was a mentor to many, advocate to those who were in hardship, and an esteemed member of the Eritrean Canadian community in Toronto (Canada). Journalist-Professor Aaron was a co-founder and editor-in-chief of Setit, the first private newspaper in Eritrea. His passing after a sudden illness is a shock to all of us and a huge loss to the family. We will announce the details of the burial and the memorial services in the coming days.
