Brent Montgomery a NC State Highway Patrol Trooper is on life support in Intensive Care Unit at UNC hospital as he battles COVD-19. Brent is a 26 year veteran of law enforcement with the majority of the years spent with the NC State Highway Patrol and he loves serving his community.
His journey started on February 3, with a positive Covid 19 test and for the next 6 days he fought this horrible virus while staying quarantine in his home. His condition rapidly deteriorated on February 9, when his wife (Heather) had to take him to Rex Emergency Department. Brent was admitted to ICU and was diagnose with Covid 19 pneumonia. For the next 8 days the medical team at Rex worked hard at treating him with high oxygen therapy but Brent continued to get worse. On February 17, a decision was made to intubate him so he could get some rest and better oxygen exchange in his lungs. On the evening of February 17, Brent was transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. On February 18, the UNC team decided that Brent needed to be placed on an ECMO machine which is a machine that exchanges his oxygen and carbon dioxide for his lungs. A short time later he developed 2 holes in his lungs and had 2 chest tubes placed in his chest. Brent is still fighting everyday and is in very critical condition.
Brent's wife Heather and their three children (Emma, Collin and Jabe) lives has been turned up side down in the last 30 days due to Brent's journey. I am coming to you today to ask for your help in supporting this family as the medical bills have already started to flow in. Please join Heather and Brent's family in praying and believing for a miracle. We need Brent to come home.
