Rise Up For Sam's Fight Against Brain Tumors
Donation protected
Our friend and co-worker's husband, Sam Kirtman, was just diagnosed with a large brain tumor. On January 18th, Sam was late coming home from work, and when Laura called him to see what was going on, he was speaking in gibberish. He couldn’t tell her where he was. His work said he and his car were gone, and that he was acting very strange when he left. The police, coworkers, and family were out looking for him when he suddenly showed up at his front door trying to get in the house. Somehow he was able to drive home, but didn’t know how he got there and was still speaking in gibberish. Laura took Sam immediately to the hospital, as at first she thought he was having a possible stroke. The MRI showed a large mass on the left frontal lobe that’s pushing into the right side and other parts of the brain. Sam was admitted to the neuro ICU and put on steroids to help with swelling in his brain. After completing the biopsy on January 20th, the neurosurgeon stated that the tumor is inoperable and the only option is to undergo chemo and radiation to extend what time Sam has left. The biopsy results are still pending.
Laura has been in contact with multiple hospitals and doctors. Laura has sent his medical records and if they are able to provide alternate treatment, the process will likely start very quickly.
This has all been so overwhelming for this family. Laura and Sam are parents to 5 year old twins who have severe disabilities including cerebral palsy. The twins are nonverbal, use wheelchairs, and require significant medical care. Laura has shared how scary it is thinking about the logistics of traveling, being off work, making sure the kids are taken care of, and figuring out how to financially handle everything. But Laura knows it will all be worth it if it gives Sam a fighting chance.
So PLEASE consider donating to help cover these expenses and to give Sam a chance to fight these tumors. If you are not able to donate we completely understand, please feel free to share this with others.
Thank you in advance for any donations, support, and PRAYERS!!
Note: Todd Lamkin, Laura's father is listed as the beneficiary and will be assisting Laura and Sam in managing the donations. Todd is overseeing the account to allow Laura to focus on Sam's medical care. Todd will ensure that all funds are directly given to family and used as intended.
