Cari soci e amici di SoundLab,

come sapete la nostra è un’associazione no-profit, fondata da musicisti per musicisti e gestita in larga parte da volontari, studenti, appassionati; ma è anche una piccola impresa culturale, che negli anni ha formato tanti giovani, creato occasioni di lavoro e crescita individuale, prodotto e promosso progetti musicali e non solo.

Ad ora, i dati indicano che è impossibile per una realtà indipendente come la nostra sopravvivere contando solo sulle proprie forze, come in passato: le restrizioni dovute all'emergenza sanitaria non ci permetteranno, per un tempo indeterminato, di offrire i consueti servizi di Sale Prove e limitano pesantemente l’attività dello Studio di registrazione, i laboratori, i coworking e i servizi connessi.

Sono così venuti a mancare improvvisamente contributi e proventi indispensabili per sostenere le utenze, l’affitto dei locali e i mezzi tecnici che ci permettono di offrirvi servizi di qualità; al contrario la gran parte delle spese sarà ugualmente da sostenere per sopravvivere al lockdown.

Questo blocco oltretutto coglie lo studio in una fase di espansione e trasformazione, esponendoci a una difficoltà ancora maggiore e costringendo a malincuore il Direttivo a non rinnovare i contratti di quei lavoratori che, con orgoglio e sforzo collettivo, SoundLab era riuscito ad assumere per consolidare il progetto.
 
Sebbene ci stiamo attrezzando per implementare e potenziare le attività da remoto - corsi di canto e musica, produzione e post-produzione, servizi di mix e mastering e altro ancora - sappiamo che queste contromisure non bastano: oggi più che mai abbiamo bisogno del sostegno di tutti coloro che sanno quanto lavoro ci sia dietro la realtà SoundLab.

Perciò facciamo appello a voi, soci e non, per far sì che questo centro di aggregazione e creatività dalle radici ormai profonde, e dalla storia più che decennale, continui a vivere e risuonare. Ci rivolgiamo a coloro che ci conoscono da anni e agli altri che solo da poco hanno iniziato a frequentare questo spazio condiviso, per coltivare i propri progetti o la passione per le tecniche audiovisive: a questa vitale ed eterogenea comunità contraddistinta dalla passione per la musica e la cultura, che in SoundLab ha trovato una casa, chiediamo una mano.

L’obiettivo fissato corrisponde a due mensilità di affitto e utenze e anche il più piccolo contributo si rivelerà essenziale. E’ un tassello di un ampio mosaico di azioni che stiamo mettendo in campo con determinazione per rispondere all’emergenza.

Il rischio di dover chiudere per sempre è alto e immediato amici, ma se vorrete e potrete aiutarci, promettiamo che alla fine dell'emergenza ci ritroverete aperti,  più forti di prima e con ancora più voglia di produrre musica e cultura insieme.

Dear associates and friends, 

as you already know, our association is non-profit, founded by musicians for musicians and is largely run by volunteers, students and enthusiasts.

But SoundLab is also a small cultural enterprise that in past years has educated many young people, has produced and promoted with its independent label many music projects with passion and dedication, has created work and growth opportunities in the music and audiovisual fields.

Up to this point, the data certifies that it is impossible for a small independent entity like ours to survive solely depending on it’s own forces like it has in the past: the restrictions imposed as a result of the current health emergency won’t allow us, for an undetermined period of time, to offer the usual rehearsal services and are greatly limiting the activity in the recording studio, laboratories and other connected services.

Thus, there has suddenly been a great income shortage from such assets, which are necessary to pay utilities, locale rent and the gear that allow us to offer you service of quality; on the contrary the majority of these expenses are equally demanded to be able to get passed this moment of crisis and not be forced to shut down this enterprise. 

This stoppage has also found us in a moment of expansion and transformation for the Studio, which has exposed us to an even greater difficulty, reluctantly forcing the Board to not renew the contracts with those workers that, with pride and collective effort, SoundLab had managed to hire to consolidate the project.

We are getting ready to implement and develop remote activities - lessons for singing, production and post-production, but also mixing and mastering services and much more. We are aware though that these countermeasures won’t be enough: today more than ever we are in need of your concrete help and the support of those who know how much work goes toward a venture like SoundLab.

For this reason we call for your help, associates and others, to make sure that this center of aggregation and creativity which now has deep roots and more than a decade-long history, can continue to live and resound. We address those that have known us for many years and also those that have only just recently started frequenting this shared space, to grow their own artistic projects or the passion for the audiovisual arts: to this vital and heterogeneous community, distinguished by it’s passion for music and culture, which has found a home in SoundLab, we ask a small and precious help.

The prefixed objective is that which is necessary to sustain at least two monthly utility and rent payments and any small contribution will reveal itself essential. It is the piece to a larger mosaic of actions that are to put in action with determination to answer to the emergency.

The risk of having to close is high and immediate friends, but if you will want to help us, and if you can help us, we promise that when this emergency is behind us you will find us open, stronger than before and with a greater desire to produce music and culture together.
