Rita Elise Jackson (Dooley)

We are so sad to announce the passing on of our loving momma Dr. Reverend Rita Jackson (Dooley) on April 19th, 2024.

We are fundraising for both her Memorial Service expenses and to support my brother with housing & relief, as he was her primary caretaker during her battle with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

We honor our Mother Rita Elise Jackson (Dooley) and her memory through our living breath and the power of her compassionate heart. Our mom was a truly prolific and courageous woman of God. She spent her entire life devoted to Community Outreach, Veteran Support, Women's Rights, Social Justice, and Human Rights for all people. Our mom was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, an Author, an NAACP Recipient, and had a Doctorate in Christian Theology.

She raised us to be of service to the world around us and help those who can't see through the storms of life. Leading them back to the shore and the sunlight with kind acts, empowering words, and the healing gifts within us all.

As you can imagine, me and my siblings are truly devastated by this loss. We are currently in our cold storm and as we weather this together, we will definitely need support. My brother and mother lived together, they were very close. Towards the end of her life, he took almost a month off work to be with my mom. Now that she is gone, my sister and I will be by his side as we all make the transition to life without her. And this means we need to secure housing, food, transportation, and additional funeral expenses.

My mother was a very self-sufficient woman and rarely asked for help, but she was always the first to give. If you have ever been healed, uplifted, blessed, or nourished by my mother, please consider showing your love by way of helping her children.

I hate that I have to even make this because it means that she really is gone. But only from her body, my mom is still very much alive in both her children/grandchildren and the hearts of every person she touched.
