River East Adopt-a-Wish

Hi,

My name is Eugenia Page; I am the PTA President at River East Elementary school, located in East Harlem, NY. I'm Writing to you on the behalf of River East Elementary. River East Elementary is a title one school that serves 250 students in east harlem, NY, the principle of title 1 is that schools with large concentrations of low-income students will receive supplemental funds to meet students' educational goals. The types of students served by Title 1 include migrant students, students with limited English proficiency, homeless students, students with disabilities, neglected students, delinquent students, at-risk students, or any students in need. Every school year,we are offered an opportunity to apply for a program called Winter Wishes through the New York Cares organization. Children and teens from organizations and schools all over the city send New York Cares their holiday wishes. Each wish is matched with a wish granter who purchases and sends gifts directly to our school for distribution. This year, the program selected a small group of Community Partners, focusing on family shelters,public housing facilities, and Title I schools in Central Queens, the South Bronx, and East Brooklyn. Unfortunately, we were not selected for participation this school year.Our students excitedly look forward to this tradition each year as their “Winter Wish” is typically the only gift they receive over the holiday. Due to our limited budget this year, we are unable to set an adequate amount of funds to grant our students their annual Winter Wishes. I am asking that you help us continue our annual Winter Wishes program by donating gifts to our students this year. If you choose to contribute to our school, you will give more than just a physical gift. You'll bring joy and a lifetime memory to our students. We realize you most likely receive many requests like this and fully understand how difficult it must be to assist everyone. We have no minimum donation requirements, so even a small donation would be appreciated. You can donate via check to River East Elementary School or purchase several items and we can arrange a pickup.
