River Valley Organizing is committed to restorative and transformative solutions for public health and justice that DEFY the isolation of incarceration, the impacts of racialized drug policies, the desolation of environmental degradation, and violent policing; empowering and strengthening the health and morale for ALL!

RVO is Creating a multi-racial, multicultural working-class organization that radically builds community power by centering the leadership of affected members..

River Valley Organizing has been working across a 240 mile stretch of the Appalachian Ohio River Valley from East Liverpool to Portsmouth building power, engaging citizens, and ensuring that communities have access to much needed harm reduction services and life saving Naloxone.

At this moment, all of the important work that is being done, and planned future projects are at risk!  River Valley Organizing is facing a $30,000 funding gap to help us keep working through the next two months and we need your help!  $30,000 would cover the operating costs of the organization and would allow the small staff of committed and devoted leaders to keep building power with the folks that have been forgotten and shoved to the margins.

These funds would help to cover the period while we await for additional awards to be released. Any amount makes a difference and your investment will go directly to the organizational work. River Valley Organizing is the only organization doing this work in our area and we cannot leave our communities, neighbors, friends, and families behind. We need you!

More about what we do at RVO...

Civic Engagement:

In 2020, despite COVID and the many changes that were taking place in our communities and around the world, RVO was able to register over 100 voters, knock on 14, 000 doors, and engage in 56,000 conversations with citizens about community needs, citizen goals, and voter education.

Ending the Drug War:

Over the course of this year River Valley Organizing was able to distribute over 9,000 naloxone kits along the Ohio River Valley.  These kits are responsible for more than 3,000 overdose reversals and instances where people who use drugs did not have to interact with police and risk arrest just to get the care they needed.

In addition to naloxone distribution, RVO has also worked tirelessly to increase access to harm reduction supplies through the expansion of their community street teams and drop-in centers.  Hundreds of thousands of sterile syringes, safe use supplies, and wound care items have been distributed around the state because of their support and efforts.
