Rivertowns Grant Match

Donation protected
We need your help to aid our residents in need and our local small businesses

The Rivertowns Chamber was awarded grant funds to support the Community Table Partnership in the villages of Irvington, Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, and Hastings-on-Hudson.

Recognizing that the restaurant industry is both a significant economic driver and a tool to address hunger locally, Westchester County has established an innovative program to help local restaurants recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Community Table Partnership enables local Chambers of Commerce or non-profit agencies to apply for grants to help families struggling with food insecurity, while supporting the local restaurant industry. The County has awarded nearly $600,000 in grants to 17 different organizations that serve 21 communities across Westchester.

County Executive George Latimer said: “The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted residents’ access to good nutritious food, and threatened the stability of our local restaurant industry. With the help of the Community Table Partnership Program, our most vulnerable families will be connected with the services and resources that they need through a true community, nonprofit, local business partnership.”

Will you help us double the impact of this grant?

Our goal is to raise $80,000 to match the grant amount, doubling the number of meals we can distribute. The current grant will fund eight weeks worth of meals from eight local restaurants, with eight percent covering administrative costs. Can you help us add another eight weeks?

About the grant...

The Rivertowns Chamber of Commerce directs the Community Table program in partnership with local organization “On The Line”. Formed in March by chamber board member Michelle Adams, On The Line developed a method for utilizing restaurants to feed at risk communities in Westchester.

Grants that have been awarded through the Community Table Partnership Program can be used for the following:

· Food vouchers that can be redeemed at participating restaurants, to be distributed to households impacted by COVID-19.

· Distribution of cooked meals to households or individuals facing food insecurity, to be picked up or delivered to households impacted by COVID-19.

The chamber works with each village administration as well as local organizations addressing food insecurity to identify residents in need. Restaurants who will participating include:

· GoSu
· River City Grille
· Piccolo Trattoria
· Harper's Restaurant
· L'inizio
· Saint George Bistro
· Maud's Tavern
· Boro 6
· More restaurants to be added if donations exceed $40,000

Meals will be distributed to approximately 800 individuals with the help of the following organizations:

·   Dobbs Ferry Food Pantry
·   SPRING Community Partners
·   Hastings-on-Hudson Food Pantry
·   Cabrini Immigrant Services
·   Greenburgh Housing Authority

Restaurant Participation and Meal Guidelines:

Restaurants participating in the program will offer wholesome meals that are healthy and nutritious, plated with dignity.

We surveyed the participating restaurants to determine if they are minority or woman owned businesses, as well as if they source food from their immediate region and/or from distributors who prioritize local farms and suppliers with sustainable practices.

Lastly, a range of restaurant concepts are involved so that a variety of cuisines are available to clients.

Measuring Effectiveness:

First and foremost, effectiveness is measured by successfully getting meals to those in need. We track use of the vouchers, reach out to inquire about non-use, and trouble shoot issues. Restaurant questionnaires and regular check-ins will collect information and metrics. Communication with municipal and food partners to make adjustments and compile feedback.
