Mary's Dream Dog Park & Training Centre.

Dear friends,
I'm asking for your help on behalf of Mary Maclachlan. In addition to being a longtime member of the BCS Community, Mary is a certified dog trainer. Mary's dream is to open a dog park and training centre where dogs and their humans could enjoy a safe and enjoyable walk in the woods as well as receive training services to help them reach their training goals.
Last year, she and Mac (Andrew Maclachlan) purchased a 58.5 wood lot in Hatley to build a home for themselves and for Mary to run her business. They had plans set and ready to start construction this spring, but Mac had a fatal accident in February of this year which shattered their lives and plans.
She's been trying to persevere with creating the dog park, because she believes wholeheartedly in the great need and benefits it will give to dogs and their families. It has also given her focus and purpose as she adapted to her new reality of being widowed and on her own.
It's a colossal project to undertake on her own- both physically, mentally and financially. She doesn't want to give up, but has realized that she cannot do this without help. She has been working tirelessly on clearing paths and marking trails, but in order to open the park, the entrance and parking need to be excavated, and it needs to be fenced. This is a huge job both in terms of labour and cost. She's hired someone who is up to the task, but has asked for support to lower the labour costs.
She was very hesitant to ask for help, but after some encouragement, she came around to the idea that this was a community initiative not just to help her, but all of us who believe that dogs deserve a place to be dogs.
