New Transmitter for 99.1 FM Long Beach KLBP-FM

99.1 KLBP is Long Beach’s only community organized Public Radio station. Independent of corporate support, public radio is the only source for independent thought and voice for Long Beach and the surrounding area. In an election year, losing that voice is a tragedy, and that is why we’ve established this page.

KLBP has been operating in downtown Long Beach and on the internet at KLBP.org since 2018, on a shoestring budget and with a small crew of passionate volunteers. We survived Covid shutdown but not the loss of our transmitter about a month ago, We sent it out for repair and it was on its way back to the station when it suffered enough damage to render it a total loss.

We need your help to get our signal back on the air. We cannot pay for our broadcast costs, keep the lights on AND purchase a new transmitter. It is more than we have on hand. We need $6500 for a new transmitter. Your donation will go directly to purchasing a new transmitter for the tower, not to anything ambiguous. Your support will put 99.1 FM back on the air (Though you can still hear us at KLBP.org!)

From the beginning, Our mission at KLBP has been unwavering over the air or on the internet stream: in amplifying the voices of the marginalized, and to foster a sense of belonging and solidarity among our listeners. Your donation will allow those voices to be heard again on 99.1 FM in Long Beach.
