Trischa's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
I am Brita Brownstein; together with my husband Rick, we are asking for your support for our sister-in-law Trischa who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. We are relaunching our campaign to raise funds for Trischa’s medical expenses and for securing care for her two young children, Caden and Billa, as she battles cancer for the 3rd time.
------------------------
"Hi, this is Trischa...I want to thank all of you generous and caring people out there. Your support has been a tremendous help for my health, my heart and my family.
When we got the Stage 4 diagnosis, it felt like our world shattered...again. We were very scared and got even more scared when I had to start chemo again (you can see in my history below that my previous experience with chemotherapy had put me into a nearly-fatal septic shock amongst other unhappy things). Like before, my white blood cells went down to dangerous levels again...
...BUT THEN...
you came in to the picture with your donations made it possible for me to make use of these wonderful integrative treatments. Despite receiving chemo almost every week, my blood levels recovered, and my white blood cells were at a healthy adult count for the rest of the chemo cycles. After 12 rounds of chemo, my hair started growing back and I started running. My oncologist had warned me that the chemo would have an accumulative effect, meaning that I would have less and less energy the more chemotherapy I'd get. But after 26 rounds of chemo, I was still up the next morning running my rounds, camping, playing, dancing and laughing with the kids.
You all have made my year beautiful despite the cancer diagnosis and the chemo treatment. Since October 2017, I am now solely on Antibodies(Trastuzumab&Pertuzumab) plus Pamidronate in the hospital. Additionally, we keep my integrative treatments going, as we feel they are what is keeping me this fit and healthy, strengthening my immune system and keeping those tiny dormant tumors sleeping.
We have since lost most of our fears and gained a lot of trust. Trust in what we are doing, trust in the body's amazing capabilities to heal and repair, and trust in this loving world that has helped us so much.
From the bottom of my heart: Thank you.
Sending my love and gratitude to all of you."

Our previous fundraising campaign in 2016 was a great success and supported Trischa’s medical costs for over 1½ years. Your donations go a long way! Unfortunately, Sean and Trischa's financial situation has not changed over these past 2 years. Sean is close to finishing up graduate school, but the next stage in his career remains in the distance. The integrative cancer treatments have been a game-changer for them, but they are paid out of pocket and are quite expensive. Therefore, we hope that some of you might have the ability to help them further by either donating or spreading the word, so Trischa can keep being strong and fit for her two children and have adequate care for them when she's in IVs. Let's help this momma and her young family live a happy healthy life"...
Their Story:
In 2012, after the birth of her first child, Caden, Trischa was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Upon diagnosis she immediately began treatment including rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, along with a mastectomy of the affected breast. Trischa struggled with this regimen, specifically the chemotherapy. She was in and out of the hospital with complications, and ultimately developed a life-threatening infection, Sepsis. She was placed in a medically induced coma and very nearly lost her life. Our prayers were answered when she pulled through, recovered and her cancer was in remission – a testament to Trischa’s strength and enduring passion for life. In 2014, she experienced a local relapse, but her strength and determination placed the cancer into remission once again.
Fast forward to present day, Trischa and Sean were blessed with their second child - a gorgeous daughter, Billa. After being told the possibility of another child would be highly unlikely, little Billa is a dream come true for Sean and Trischa. Two months postpartum, Trischa began to feel a pain in her side. An ultrasound uncovered three tumors on her liver. Follow-up testing indicated Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer with additional lesions. Life changed again in the blink of an eye. The cancer had spread and is considered incurable. Trischa will now receive treatment for the foreseeable future. Our hearts sank with the devastating news. After being handed something so beautiful in baby Billa, they have to fight cancer again.
We are here to ask for your support for Trischa, Sean, Caden and baby Billa. The family lives on a graduate student’s salary and stipends from Sean’s school. Their budget is very tight. Trischa will need supplementary care to keep her from experiencing a near death complication again during her rigorous chemotherapy treatments. These treatments will be out-of-pocket and are costly. Sean’s stipend will not be able to cover them. Your generous donations will allow Trischa to receive the care she needs to battle her cancer and maintain her health so she can remain present for her family and watch her two children grow. It will allow her to fight against the odds in hopes that during that time, advancements in metastatic breast cancer treatments can be made that will eventually lead to a cure. Your generosity will help provide care for Billa and Caden, as Sean cares for his wife and continues to work to provide for the family. Your support will
lift their spirits above all. We are grateful for any contribution, large or small. We want them to know they are not alone in this battle. Help us hold them high through this journey.
We thank you from the bottom our hearts for your willingness to hear their story and for your consideration in supporting them. Much gratitude and many blessings to you.
