Jack's Fight
Donation protected
On the 13th of September Jack was admitted to hospital with a diagnosis of Severe Aplastic Anemia, a bone marrow failure disorder. He regressed quickly after diagnosis soon leaving him with no functioning bone marrow resulting him no longer producing blood cells.
No white cells have left him prone to serious infections and low platelets mean he is prone to bleeding. He has relied on the amazing generosity of blood donors to sustain his red blood and platelet levels. We also couldn't have asked for a better level of care from the doctors, nurses and volunteers at Flinders Hospital. They have been amazing.
Jack has faced many challenges whilst being in hospital fighting this horrible disease but he has proven to us what we already knew about him, that he is unbelievably strong and a fighter. We are so proud of him and amazed at his resilience and attitude throughout all of this.
Jack has been in the ICU now for over 50 days, being placed into an induced coma. More recently he had his breathing tube removed and we heard his voice for the first time in over 7 weeks which was amazing.
Having your health is something you take for granted and you never think that something like this will happen to you or someone you love. This has been the biggest challenge of our lives but the support of friends and family and sticking together and relying on each other's strengths has helped us continue to get through this.
Jack has understandably and unfortunately been unable to work and had to withdraw from University since being diagnosed. This has been a big setback in Jack's short term goals.
Donations will go directly to Jack to use on something special for himself when he is better.
His journey is not over and all positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated. We believe that positive attitude and thoughts have been very powerful in helping Jack on his road to recovery.
Thank you in advanced for all your love and support.
Love from Jack's family and friends xxx
