Help Christa Snell Owen Beat Cancer

Hi, My Name is Kathy and I am starting this fundraiser to help my friend Christa Snell Owen and her husband Jeremy Owen, raise money for her Chemo and Radiation Treatments.

Christa was diagnosed with cervical cancer around last week September which at this time they were told was contained and the hysterectomy would get it all. They scheduled first week in November to do the radical hysterectomy procedure. As they got into the OR there were more complications, one of her ovaries was adhered to her colon and the other ovary was adhered to her intestines. The Dr. was able to remove the ovary adhered to her colon without any difficulties, but had to leave the other ovary because it was adhered to her intestines. Since she had already been diagnosed with diverticulitis in 2020, the Dr. decided that if she tried to remove that ovary it might cause severe issues by taking it! Also as standard procedure they removed multiple lymph nodes and sent for testing!

Unfortunately the day before Thanksgiving she received a call from her Dr. that it had spread to her lymph nodes! Now with this diagnoses she must undergo Chemo and Radiation 5 days a week for 2 months! She needs help fast to get these treatments started. The longer it takes for her to be able to start the preventative treatments, the more of a chance it will spread further through her system and other organs. 

This is a very expensive treatment and will drain her energy that will prevent her from working! And also be in need of her husband to care for her while going back and forth to these treatments! This is a hard hit on them financially and they could really use some help with medical bills from her surgery, pet scans, MRI, etc. Now adding onto those bills will be the radiation and chemotherapy bills 5 days a week for 8 weeks that will add up quick.

Christa has been my dearest friend for over 20 years. and has been there for me and many others whenever she could as well as her husband Jeremy! They have 4 children and two twin grandsons ,and a granddaughter which she has lost many nights of sleep not knowing if she will be here to watch them grow up! See her youngest daughter get married, have kids and her youngest son get married and have kids.

So I ask now if anyone that has a mother, daughter, sister, aunt or even a friend or friends that have gone through cancer themselves or could in the future. It is hard on everyone involved emotionally and financially.

In this next month of inexplicable pain and grief we want to help support the family and reduce some of the financial stress that her family is currently facing. Hence, I am organizing this fundraiser to support Christa and her family during these tough times. We appreciate your generous contribution that will be used for Christa’s medical expenses and they will forever be grateful for every donation during these challenging times. 5, 10, 15 any amount will help. 

Jeremy Owen has been a resident and small business owner of Alvarado for all his life and has helped support AHS sports teams, helped support many other families in times of need when he could. This has been a total shock and surprise to the family and anyone who knows this family knows they have always helped the community when needed.

At this time I hope we can get as much raised as possible to help with this financial burden and As Many Prayers as we can get also!
