Help Rosi through this tragic time
On the evening of July 31st 2021, the Far Hills PD responded to an accident of a pedestrian struck by a train. Quickly, my family became aware that this individual was, indeed, my cousin, Ruben Medina Cardenas, a local of Far Hills, New Jersey. He was treated at the scene and ultimately flown to Morristown Memorial Hospital, and in critical condition.
10 days later, and on the date of his 28th birthday, he is currently unresponsive. Ruben currently requires additional surgeries and will have a long road ahead of him. We are hopeful that he will recover in time. I am seeking help for my Aunt Rosi to cover the already incurred medical costs and future costs for her family.
My Aunt Rosi Cardenas is one of the kindest, most selfless people I know. She plays a huge part in her community and has put forth many efforts in helping those in need. So I am asking for our community to come together and lend a hand in any way you can, several of you have expressed a willingness to help. Thank you so much we are forever grateful.
My Aunt has 2 other children to care for at home and will need to provide full-time medical care to Ruben once he comes home. This will include at home health care, a hospital bed, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. As we all know, life goes on. As my Aunt navigates their new normal to care for Ruben and his siblings, while still putting food on the table, paying rent, monthly bills, hospital bills accrued during this time, It will be a struggle to say the least.
Ruben is still alive today, and I am grateful for the heroic actions to save his life of those associated with Far Hills-Bedminster First Aid Squad, Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department, Bedminster Police Department, Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad, Peapack-Gladstone Police Department, Bernardsville Fire Department, Bernardsville First Aid Squad, Bernardsville Police Department, Bernards Township Police Department, NJ Transit Police, Robert Wood Johnson EMS, Atlantic MEDIC 12, New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR, and the Somerset County.
This has been a huge reminder that life can change in an instant. So hug your loved ones, tell them you love them, simply check in. We are grateful that he is still with us today and are praying that Ruben will come home soon.
I hope to raise $10,000 that will go towards her rent, bills, food and everyday expenses for the next couple of months so that she can focus and put her efforts in helping Ruben with his recovery. I will keep this post updated as we have updates on the condition of my cousin Ruben.
