A Year's Mission to South Africa

Donation protected
I have been given the amazing opportunity to spend a year in South Africa interning for a ministry called Emoyeni. This ministry works mainly with orphaned children in the Badplaas region of South Africa but also ministers to the local people.

Eight years ago the Lord birthed the dream of working with orphans in my heart. For a long time this dream overwhelmed me, as I realized that even if I cared for thousands of orphans, there would still be millions of children without the love of a family. Then the Lord asked me a very important question, “Could you love just one orphan?” “Yes Lord,” I responded, “I could love one orphan.” “Good,” the Father replied, “I will take care of all my children but all I have asked you to do is love the one child I place in front of you.” Suddenly I realized that it was not about saving all the orphans in the world; it was about changing one life at a time, and if I could change the life of even just one child, I would be making a powerful impact.

The Lord has opened the door for me to love some of the orphans and children of South Africa. After I graduate from Regent University in May with a Bachelor’s degree in Government, I will be serving as a missionary intern for a year with Emoyeni.  Ever since its inception in 2002, Emoyeni has sought to empower the children, young adults, and women of Badplaas and the surrounding villages, with the message of Christ’s love and power.

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve with Emoyeni, beginning in June of 2016. As an intern I will be helping in their preschool; distributing meals with others on the team to over 1,000 area children daily; praying for the sick and needy; helping to disciple the young adults in the community; and assisting with leading Sunday school programs for the local children.  If you would like to read more about the ministry or watch the Emoyeni videos (explaining who they are and what they do), please visit the ministry website at  http://www.emoyeni.org and their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/emoyenisa/?fref=ts.
I would also love to share with you a bit more about how the Lord opened this door and how He expanded my heart to love the poor and hurting, especially orphans, so please feel free to contact me.

I am so excited to begin this journey with the Lord and allow the Father to work through me, as I act as His hands and feet to the children of South Africa. I would like to ask for your prayerful support to partner with me in prayer as well as financially, as I take this journey. My costs there will run around $600 a month for twelve months, and, of course, there is the cost of getting there, including airplane fare, special shots and medical tests, the visa process, etc.  all totaling about $15,000. You can either partner with me by giving a one-time gift or by signing up to give a monthly gift for the full 12 months. If you wish to give directly through Emoyeni then you can log onto their website and click on the Donate Now link on the top right of the screen. You can specify whom the donation is for and can either give a one-time gift or set up a reoccurring transaction.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support as I prepare to leave in June!

God Bless,
