Hello, my name is Krista Petersen, I am fundraising on behalf of my sister Angela Anderson. On Feb. 13th Angela woke during the night and was not feeling well. She woke her husband Larry and said she needed to go to the ER. Once she had been seen at Sanford of Worthington they airlifted her to Sioux Falls Sanford Heart hospital, while in the cath lab, Angela suffered a heart attack and was rushed into surgery to put a stint in. One of her main arteries was 100% blocked. During her recovery, it was discovered that one of her kidneys was no longer functioning at all and she has a spot on one of her lungs. She was discharged from Sioux Falls on Thursday, Feb. 16th.
On Friday, Feb 17th she was visiting with our sister Audrey and they noticed that her fingers were turning blue and they were cold and numb. They called Sioux Falls and went into the ER in Worthington. After a short time her fingers returned to normal and they went home with instructions that if it happened again they were to go straight to the ER in SF. Later that evening it occurred again and Larry and Audrey took Angela to SF where she was admitted for more testing. On Saturday it was discovered that her toes were blue as well. This led to a diagnosis of Blue Toe Syndrome, which occurs when plaque is knocked loose and settles in the lowest parts of the body. This should correct itself, but it takes time and is very painful. On Sunday Angela was again released from the hospital.
On Monday, Feb 27th Angela had a terrible headache in the evening. On Tuesday, she had a hard time finding the words that she wanted to say, she was again taken to the hospital where it was discovered that she had suffered a mild/moderate stroke. On Wed, Feb 28th, Angela was taken to Sioux Falls by ambulance. The doctors wanted to find out what caused the stroke. They ran tests and did scopes but are still unsure where the source is located. Angela was discharged from Sioux Falls on Tuesday, March 8th. Once Angela has time to recover from the stroke and Blue Toe Syndrome the doctors will address the spot on her lung. Angela's return to work is still unknown.
