Road to Calgary - when Rotary becomes magical
Tax deductible
What? I am committed to walking the distance between Munich and Calgary in one Rotary year (July-June) before the Rotary International Convention starts next year on June 21, 2025 in Calgary, Canada.
I'm not walking the actual route between Munich and Calgary, but I am committed to walking the distance this year. It's about 7829 km or 4865 miles. Obviously, there's water in between (3815 km or 2371 miles from Le Havre in France to St. John's in Canada), so the walkable distance is about 4014 km or 2494 miles.
Why? I am a Rotarian by heart. I live Rotary, I breathe Rotary. So this is just a logical thing for me to do. What to do when there's nothing new out there? Do what you like to do. And use it for the good.
And I like walking, running, being outside, and exploring new neighborhoods while being on my feet.
Goal My personal goal is to raise $ 500.000. I will donate this money to Rotary International to make the lives of those who need it most better. This will not change the world, but it will change the lives of these people. And this is the Magic of Rotary.
The money will go directly to The Rotary Foundation (www.rotary.org).
The Rotary Foundation is Rotary International's (RI) charitable arm. RI transforms donations into grants awarded to Rotary clubs and their members to carry out projects that change lives in their communities and around the world. Foundation grants empower Rotarians to approach challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, water and sanitation, disease, and malnutrition with solutions that have a lasting impact. Rotary members in the field know the needs and cultures of their communities. They draw on this knowledge as local leaders to help those who need it most.
