Road to LEXI's Recovery
Spende geschützt
Brain cancer is one of the most feared forms of cancer. On November 30th, in the middle of her studies as a nursing student, Lexi Caviston was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. On December 4th, the Doctor removed a tumor the size of 2-3 golf balls from the right side of the brain. The surgeon believes he got all of the tumor (Oswald) out. The pathology report came back Glial neoplasm requiring chemotherapy, radiation and experimental treatment. More to follow as that unfolds. I am reaching out on behalf of Lexi and her parents, Paul & Carol Caviston, to ask for your help. Please consider a donation of any size to help cover medical expenses, loss of work, travel, hotels, food, etc…while this family supports Lexi. Besides being public servants, Paul with the police and Carol a nurse, the Cavistons have generously donated their time, efforts and money to so many worthy causes in the greater Scranton/Wilkes Barre area for decades. This family is always the first to jump in and help anyone and everyone. Please return the favor! “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.” Elkhart Tolle As you might imagine, Lexi has faced some pretty dark days and she has a hard road of recovery coming up, but she has found a whole fascinating way of looking at life starting with naming her tumor Oswald. Lexi wants to do as much as possible for herself during the healing process and has a goal of getting back to her nursing studies! While we are optimistic, we are also realistic in the challenges and hurdles she will face in the immediate future. Upon returning home from Lexi's surgery, Paul and Carol opened their mail and read a letter stating the surgery to remove the tumor was not necessary and therefore the insurance would not be paying. Now, we can assume there was a coding error. And, this will be disputed. However, this is exactly what this family does not need to be dealing with on top of everything else. They will need every bit of their credit available and then some for experimental treatment which probably will not be covered under insurance. I will be updating this throughout Lexi’s journey. Please continue to pray and if you are able to help defray the costs, know you have our neverending gratitude!! Thank you!
